The third and last SECURE-R2I technology-transfer training summer school was held in Coimbra, Portugal, from 4 to 8 July. Thirty-two participants from various Eastern Partnership and EU countries received the last set of courses from technology-transfer experts Thomas Gering (IAM), Max Nielsen (MaxInno) and Henning Sejer Jakobsen (Danish Technological Institute). This time, the training focused on valuation techniques and intellectual properties issues, business planning and investor readiness, and negotiation of technology transfer deals.
The training was hosted by the Instituto Pedro Nunes of the University of Coimbra, an institute which hosts an incubator and an accelerator for innovative companies linked to the research activities of the University. The director of the Institute, Paulo Santos introduced the activities of the organisation to the summer school participants, who also benefited from a visit to meet some of the hosted start-ups.
Another interesting visit was organised in Biocant, Portugal’s first research and business park dedicated to biotechnologies.

Finally, the summer school participants enjoyed a touristic visit to the vibrant city of Porto.
